The Miz: ‘I Can Lead WWE Raw, I Am A Ratings Spike’
Miz is ready for act two as WWE Champion.
The Miz was only WWE Champion one time. He won the championship for the night after Survivor Series in 2010 and would carry it until WWE Extreme Rules in 2011. During that time, he was able to have unique championship matches, when the main event of WrestleMania 27, and boost ratings so much for Monday Night Raw that he began calling himself “The Most Must-See WWE Champion of All-Time” an alias that he still uses a variant of to this very day.
Currently, Monday Night Raw ratings are in a slump with the most recent episode hitting an all-time low for viewership. Speaking on WWE’s The Bump, The Miz explained that he is the person who can lead the brand to a new promise land once he cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase and once again becomes WWE champion.
“I can lead Monday Night Raw, I could lead Friday Night SmackDown, I can lead any show that is given to me and it’s right there. So you take any show, you put me in any situation, I can make it succeed. So once I cash in the Money in the Bank contract successfully, I will successfully defend the WWE champion and be the champion that Monday Night Raw needs and the ratings will go up. I am a ratings spike.”
One of the highlights of his championship run was an oddball TLC bout he had on a December 2010 episode of Monday Night Raw with Jerry Lawler, the first WWE Championship bout Lawler ever had.
Miz would go on to say that he is a WWE Champion that can give hope to potential competitors like Ricochet.
“I was one of those champions that anyone could beat anyone at any time and that’s what made it so entertaining and so made people want to watch even more. If you look at the ratings back then, the ratings when I was champion were very, very high. Why? Because on any given night, any given superstar could be WWE champion. All your little favorites out there, ‘I want this guy, give me Ricochet. Oh, the best in-ring technician. Please give me him. You know, he should be the champion.’ He could be champion, if people believed that he could be champion if he just gets the opportunity.”
