Victoria Reveals Torrie Wilson Tried To Get Her A Job With WCW
Lisa Marie Varon is remembered by most for her stint in WWE as Victoria, but the former Women’s Champion recently revealed that she was first proposed to the competition.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Varon shared that she and Torrie Wilson lived together before their wrestling careers and that WCW had an opportunity to sign her before WWE.
“That’s how I met Torrie, we competed in fitness together – with the same sponsor, so we had a team… Her and I were roommates and it was Miss Galaxy we were competing in, and that’s how our friendship began. Way before wrestling, and then she got into WCW and brought me backstage, and I’m like “what the hell? What is this? You’re escorting a guy to the ring and you get paid for that because you’re hot and shredded? She’s beautiful. Just stunning… She tried to get me into WCW and that was going down. They weren’t hiring anybody.”
Van Vliet followed up by asking if she had any interest in joining the wrestling business. Here is what she said:
“When I saw that. That’s what piqued my interest. “You get paid what? For this?”
Wilson’s time in WCW ended after two years, joining the WWE in 2001. Varon spent much of that year (and the one prior) training, (re)debuting as Victoria in the summer of 2002, only one year after her friend.
