Darby Allin Agrees With Jim Ross’ Criticism Of Dives
Jim Ross was recently outspoken when it came to dives in AEW and wrestling, criticizing wrestlers for grouping up to catch an opponent.
Ross said about the spots on Grilling JR, “All you guys go outside, you cluster up like coils, you stand there in a huddle, friends and foes together, side-by-side, so you can catch some leaping idiot going over the top who never wins with this move. They are looking for the ‘holy shit’ chant. They love to hear, ‘this is awesome’. It’s a spot, folks. It’s a trapeze act. I don’t buy into that.”
Brandon Cutler seemingly responded to Ross’ criticism by using his exact quote in a tweet to promote the upcoming 14-man tag team match on AEW Dynamite.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin weighed in on Ross’ criticism by saying, “I love Jim Ross and I agree with him.”
Elsewhere during the interview, Allin weighed in on non-wrestlers like Shaquille O’Neal coming into AEW and drawing extra eyes to the product.
Allin said about non-wrestlers, “It kicks ass. I want to see more crossovers with other forms of media and pro wrestling. I’m a big fan of all that stuff, that’s why I try to bring in Tony Hawk and Steve-O. As much as they get me hyped, I want to bring them into the world so all the wrestling fans can see what they do. Half the people in my world are complete jokes. Half the wrestlers are complete jokes and don’t take it serious. I would love to have someone else step into the world, take it serious, and kick ass.”
Shaq made an appearance on the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite in a sitdown interview with Tony Schiavone and Brandi Rhodes. The segment ended with Brandi tossing water on Shaq.
Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
