Montez Ford Talks He And Angelo Dawkins Potentially Having Singles Careers
Montez Ford opens up on The Street Profits potentially having runs as singles competitors.
Currently, The Street Profits are one of the top tag teams in WWE. Most recently, they defeated The New Day, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods at WWE Survivor Series. While that tag team victory meant the world to both Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, Ford tells Comic Book that he would like to face all of the members of The New Day in one-on-one action, especially Kofi Kingston.
“Yeah, I would definitely like to work all three individually, but I would definitely say Kofi Kingston because of what he’s done for our generation and how he’s paved the way,” Ford said. “I’d definitely love to get in there one-on-one against Kofi Kingston. He’s a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion man. To me, that’s like, being in the ring with him on a singles match, it’s just like putting my mark and stamp on the WWE entertainment business as a whole.”
The New Day has always been a faction that respects the individual careers of the trio, Big E recently received a new theme song as part of a repackaging now that he is no longer on the same brand as Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
As for whether or not he would like to pursue a run as a singles competitor full-time, Montez Ford says he will leave that to fate but he knows that both he and Angelo Dawkins will support one another no matter what.
“But as far as us having singles matches, it’s one of the things that like, if myself and Dawkins were to get drafted and go separate ways, it would definitely be one of those situations where like, he’ll support me and be all for it and vice versa,” Ford said. “It’s one of those things where we’ll just be supportive, man.”
Ford continued, “So yeah, it’d be definitely one of those things that we’d be supportive and be excited about, but I don’t think that’s happening any time soon,” Ford said. “Because like I said, I can fly around and jump, but I definitely need my tag team partner to knock over these bigger guys, man. You got people like Braun Strowman and Keith Lee that work on the same roster as us.”
Recently, Montez Ford also had to defend The New Day and The Street Profits exchanging championship belts as a part of the 2020 WWE Draft. Read more about that at this link.
