Vettori (no. 13) made the most of his short-notice opportunity and snatched the ranking of Hermansson (no. 4). “The Italian Dream” dropped Hermansson badly in round one. Hermansson’s pressure closed the gap between rounds three and five; however, it was Vettori who took the decision. The five-round war set the record for most significant strikes thrown in a UFC middleweight bout. Afterwards, Vettori called out Paulo Costa.
