Drew McIntyre: WrestleMania 35 Was Roman Reigns’ Moment, Survivor Series 2020 Will Be Mine

Drew McIntyre says he has a lot to prove at Survivor Series 2020 against Roman Reigns.

At WrestleMania 35, Roman Reigns defeated Drew McIntyre in his first singles match since returning from his battle with leukemia. Since then, both men have not met in a high-profile singles match, but they will at WWE Survivor Series.

Drew McIntyre earned the right to face Roman Reigns at Survivor Series when he defeated Randy Orton to capture his second WWE Championship on the November 16 episode of Monday Night Raw. Now, he is ready to prove that he is not the secondary champion Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman claimed he is.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Drew McIntyre admitted that WrestleMania in 2019 was a night that belonged to Roman Reigns, but this time he is the one with something to prove and that means Survivor Series will belong to Drew McIntyre and Monday Night Raw.

“That was Roman’s moment, returning from illness and showing the world he was back,” said McIntyre. “I was thankful for that opportunity, but it needed to be all about Roman. This is way different than 35. He’s done a lot since then, but I have risen up the card, too. I have a lot to prove to him this Sunday. All eyes are always on Roman. This is my opportunity to prove I’m better.”

He continued, “Roman has been the man for so many years in WWE. There is something so special about his presence. He’s phenomenal in the ring, he’s a leader in the ring, and he’s reached this level for a reason.

“I’m putting in the work, and I’m going to keep doing that. When you think WWE, you think Roman Reigns. I want people to think of Drew McIntyre, and they’re going to after Survivor Series.”

As much as the focus is on the battle for brand supremacy, WWE Survivor Series is also about the final farewell of The Undertaker. See reactions from the wrestling world about this farewell at this link.
