NXT Halloween Havoc Outdraws 10/28 AEW Dynamite In Viewership
Viewership for both AEW Dynamite and NXT went up this week, but NXT’s Halloween Havoc special allowed the show to outdraw Dynamite.
According to numbers released by Showbuzz Daily, the October 28 episode of AEW Dynamite drew 781,000 viewers, which is up from last week’s 753,000 viewers. NXT’s Halloween Havoc, on the other hand, drew 876,000 viewers, which is up from the 644,000 viewers the October 21 episode drew.
This was the first time NXT had a higher viewership going head-to-head against Dynamite since July 8, which was night two of NXT’s Great American Bash. That show saw NXT draw 759,000 viewers while AEW Dynamite drew 715,000 viewers that night.
In the 18-49 demographic, AEW Dynamite still got the win in the ratings. AEW Dynamite this week drew a 0.32 rating, which is 12th best among original cable telecasts for the day, and up from last week’s rating. It was more than NXT’s 0.25 rating in that same demo, which was 21st best on cable and up from last week’s 0.16 rating.
NXT’s Halloween Havoc saw two title matches with stipulations being decided by “Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal.” The first one saw Johnny Gargano defeat Damian Priest to win the North American title in a “Devil’s Playground Match.” The main event saw Io Shirai defeat Candice LeRae in a “Tables, Ladders and Scares Match” to retain the NXT Women’s Championship.
AEW Dynamite this week saw Kenny Omega and Hangman Page win their respective AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament semifinals matches. The two of them will face off at Full Gear with the winner getting a future AEW World Title match. Newly-crowned NWA Women’s Champion Serena Deeb defeated Leyla Hirsch in her first title defense on Dynamite.
