Chris Jericho Says 2018 Match Between DX And The Brothers Of Destruction Was ‘The Worst Match Ever’
Chris Jericho has some very harsh criticism for the WWE Crown Jewel 2018 match between D-Generation X, Shawn Michaels and Triple H, and the Brothers of Destruction, Kane and The Undertaker.
In 2018, Shawn Michaels came out of retirement for the first, and seemingly only, time since losing at WrestleMania 26 in 2010. In his one and only match in the last decade, he teamed with Triple H to face Kane and The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel 2018.
The match itself was not the mat classic the performers would have put on in their heyday, and AEW’s Chris Jericho, one of Shawn Michaels greatest rivals in his career, called that tag team match “the worst match he’s ever seen” during a recent appearance on Sirius XM’s Busted Open Radio.
“The worst match I ever saw – and here’s your clickbait – was Saudi Arabia; Triple H and Shawn Michaels vs. Kane and Undertaker. That was such a stupid idea in the booking. It never should have happened,” Jericho said (via talkSPORT).
He continued, “It should have been Shawn and Hunter vs Roman and Seth and Taker and Kane vs… I don’t know – give me two names of guys – Cesaro and Kevin Owens, whatever you want.”
Jericho, who recently celebrated 30 years in pro wrestling, would also say that he did not want to work the older names in WWE and he was always focused on building new talent and he takes that same approach to All Elite Wrestling. Jericho would go as far as to say that you would never see him one-on-one against Matt Hardy because he has no interest in rehashing matchups from 20 years ago in WWE.
As for the previously mentioned tag match, all the competitors have since had a good laugh about how off the rails that match became. Learn more at this link.
