Booker T Reflects On Road Warrior Animal’s Life And His Memories Of The Person Behind The Performer
Last week, the wrestling world lost a titan of tag team wrestling when Road Warrior animal, aka Joe Laurinaitis, passed away at the age of 60.
Speaking on his podcast, Booker T reflected on his personal memories with the legendary wrestler and revealed what he will miss most about him
“It was a rough week losing a good friend of mine, Road Warrior Animal, man, Joe Laurinaitis, he was an awesome, awesome, awesome dude and he was always there for me. He always — you know, I would call for Reality of Wrestling and boom, he’s there. ‘Do you want to help me train?’ ‘Yeah.’ I got that, man.” Booker T recalled. “To be so enthused about working with the young guys, man, that’s what I remember about Animal more than anything.”
He continued, “[my fondest memories of Animal are of] nothing in the ring. That’s what’s ironic, it’s nothing in the ring. So many guys, of course, tell me their stories about Animal and it’s always, you know, a match or something like that. But for me, it was how he felt about working with young people. I love Road Warrior Animal, man. There again, we didn’t get a chance to mix it up inside the square circle, Harlem Heat vs. The Road Warriors, like we really wanted to, but, I just want to say my condolences to the family. You’re gonna be well missed, you’re going to be remembered forever, and brother, I’ll see you again.”
Booker T did get a chance to work with Animal in a tag team match at WCW Uncensored 1996 when he teamed with Sting against The Road Warriors.
