Top Ranked Middleweight Added To UFC 208

A middleweight division attraction has been added to next month’s UFC 208 card as #3 Ronaldo Souza will be in action against #14 Tim Boetsch.

Souza (23-4-0) has won six of seven fights under the UFC banner, with some notable wins coming over Chris Camozzi (twice), Yushin Okami, Gegard Mousasi and Vitor Belfort. Souza is a former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion, he defeated Tim Kennedy in 2010 to win the title, he would defend it once before losing it to Luke Rockhold. Souza only competed one time in 2016, which is the least amount of times he fought in a single year since his second year as a professional MMA fighter in 2004.

Boetsch (20-10-0) will be entering the fight while riding a two fight winning streak, with those wins coming over the duo of Josh Samman and Rafael Natal. Boetsch is also a former Extreme Challenge Light Heavyweight Champion, he defeated Hazem Ibrahim in 2007 to win that belt. Boetsch hasn’t had one of his fights go the distance in over three years, his last fight to go to a decision was against CB Dolloway at UFC 166.

UFC 208 takes place on Saturday, February 11 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Holly Holm and Germaine De Randamie headlining.
