Jay White On Will Ospreay: I Know He’s A Heavyweight Because He Won’t Shut The F*** Up About It

Jay White shares his thoughts on a few of his upcoming G1 opponents and gave an especially heated response to Will Ospreay.

The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion spoke with NJPW to discuss his upcoming matches for this year’s G1 Climax. White spoke on Kota Ibushi, who will be his second opponent in the tournament, beginning on September 19. Ibushi actually beat White in the finals of last year’s tournament, but White got the win in their rematch at Wrestle Kingdom this past January. However, White isn’t looking at this as a rubber match in their rivalry.

“It’s not a rubber match to me. Maybe you like to look at it that way, to put a special meaning to it, but it’s just another match to get me two points in my book,” White said.

Then, White talked about Kazuchika Okada as the two are set to face off on September 27. White spoke on how poetic it will be to face Okada in the same building he betrayed Okada and joined Bullet Club.

“I guess it’ll be a little poetic, won’t it. It all comes around. I was supposed to face Okada in the New Japan Cup before that all went tits up, but now it’s an even more poetic situation. I get to beat him in the same building where I shocked the world in probably the most important moment in pro-wrestling history,” White said.

Finally, on the subject of Ospreay (White’s opponent on September 30), White showed a lot of disdain for Ospreay moving up to the heavyweight division. White wasn’t mad at the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion moving up in weight, but more so of Ospreay constantly talking about it on social media.

“Now he’s a heavyweight. I know. We all know. You know why? Because he doesn’t shut the f*** up about it. Congratulations Will, you found where the weight room is. You realized you’re supposed to have muscle and not look like a scrawny dweeb. But just putting on weight doesn’t equate to you being good enough to beat me, and I’ll show you that in our match,” White said.

Fightful will have results of every G1 Climax event after each show’s conclusion.
