Dana White “Wouldn’t Say” He “Wasn’t Worried” When Daniel Cormier Contracted COVID-19

Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier recently revealed he tested positive for COVID-19 before UFC 252, which concerned UFC President Dana White.

White admits that a lot of his concerns were alleviated once he spoke with the doctor ahead of UFC 252.

“I wouldn’t say that I wasn’t worried when [I found] out he had COVID,” White said after Contender Series Episode 33 (via MMA Fighting). “I was worried, but the doctors said he’s 100 percent healthy, he’s fine. He’ll get through this, and he’ll be able to continue to train.”

Cormier went onto compete at UFC 252, suffering a unanimous decision loss to UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. The UFC President also said that he didn’t find out about DC’s positive test until after the fighter started getting better.

“He had already seen the doctors, and the doctors said he’s going to be fine,” White said. “Cruised right through it, not a problem at all.”

DC has since retired from professional MMA competition but remains a part of the UFC commentary team.
