Jan Blachowicz Doesn’t Care About Jon Jones: “I Will Think About Him In The Future”
Jan Blachowicz is over Jone Jones
Blachowicz and Dominick Reyes will battle for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title, which was recently vacated by Jon Jones, in the co-main event of UFC 253. There was a time when Blachowicz has Jones on his mind for a potential title fight, but now his focus on Reyes and Reyes alone.
“Maybe a little bit [upset], but I don’t care,” Blachowicz told MMA Fighting. “Right now, I’m only thinking about Dominick Reyes. I don’t care about Jon Jones anymore. I will think about him in the future. Now in my head is only Dominick, and I’ll focus on him.”
Jones will now move up and fight at heavyweight, which is a weight class that neither Blachowicz or Reyes have competed at in the UFC. Blachowicz is happy that Jones moved up to heavyweight because it unblocked the light heavyweight division for the fighters who competed there.
“I was happy because he unblocked our [division],” Blachowicz said. “I knew that I was going to be fighting against Dominick Reyes then, and I knew it was going to be a title shot. A regular title, so it was great news.”
UFC 253 takes place on Saturday, September 26 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
