Two Fights Added To UFC 209, Top 15 Battle
Two more fights have been added to next month’s UFC 209 card as #12 Darren Elkins faces #13 Mirsad Bektic and Todd Duffee faces Mark Godbeer.
Elkins (21-5-0) will be entering the fight riding a three fight winning streak, defeating Godofredo Pepey, Chas Skelly and Robert Whiteford. It has been over two years since Elkins has suffered a defeat, which was to Hacran Dias at UFC Fight Night 58. Elkins has also seen his last seven fights go to a decision, he has gone 5-2-0 in those seven fights, the decision streak has also lasted nearly four years.
Bektic (11-0-0) has already won four fights under the UFC banner, defeating Chas Skelly, Paul Redmond, Lucas Martins and Russell Doane. Bektic has only competed once in the last seventeen months, which is the longest break in between fights that Bektic has had since turning pro. Bektic also held a championship as an amateur fighter, he was the Final Round MMA Featherweight Champion.
Duffee (9-3-0) has won two of three in his second UFC run, defeating Anthony Hamilton and Philip De Fries, while suffering a defeat to Frank Mir. Duffee has only seen one of his twelve professional MMA fights go past the first round, that fight was a third round knockout loss to Mike Russow at UFC 114. Duffee will be competing for the first time in well over a year, it is the third time in his professional MMA career that he has been away from competition for more than a year.
Godbeer (11-3-0) is currently winless under the UFC banner, having dropped a fight to Justin Ledet at UFC Fight Night 99. Godbeer has only fought for one time in his professional career, which was a loss to Anthony Taylor for the Supremacy Fighting Challenge Heavyweight Title. Godbeer started off his professional MMA career on a seven fight undefeated streak, a streak that lasted over two years.
UFC 208 takes place on Saturday, February 11 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Holly Holm and Germaine De Randamie headlining.
