Dana White Wants Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Yair Rodriguez To Be 5 Rounds

UFC President Dana White wants to see Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Yair Rodriguez as a five-round fight.

Magomedsharipov vs. Rodriguez was reportedly set for the main event of August 29’s UFC Fight Night show. Unfortunately, Rodriguez suffered an ankle injury and the bout was called off. No plans have been announced yet to pair the duo together again and if it does happen, it must be a five-round fight according to White.

“(Tuesday) was matchmaking, and we’re still working on that fight,” White said during a media scrum after Dana White’s Contender Series 29 (via Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie). “We want to do the Yair and Zabit fight, so we’re waiting for Yair to get healed. I don’t know how it’s going to end up playing out, but in a perfect world, yes, I would like it to be five rounds.”

There is no word yet on when Rodriguez is set to return from his ankle injury, but with the UFC running at least one event every weekend until the end of the year, there are still many opportunities for the duo to battle in 2020.
