Report: Charles Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush Targeted For UFC Card On October 3
An intriguing fight between ranked lightweights Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush is reportedly in the works for the UFC Fight Night card on October 3.
The fight was first reported by Ag Fight.
Sixth-ranked Oliveira and 14th-ranked Dariush are two submission specialists who have developed dangerous striking skills as of late. Oliveira (29-8-0-1) is riding an impressive seven-fight winning streak with all finishes; meanwhile, Dariush has won five straight with four consecutive finishes. The Brazilian is coming off an impressive headlining performance over Kevin Lee in March. Dariush set the world on fire after knocking out Scott Holtzman with a first-round spinning elbow at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Olenik on August 8.
The reported fight is sure to be a cracker. Dariush has earned three Performance of the Night awards in his last four fights, and was a shoo-in for $50,000 had he not missed weight against Holtzman. Oliveira has cashed in big on his winning streak, earning six Performance of the Night awards in seven fights.
The UFC card on October 3 is expected to be headlined by former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm and dark horse contender Irene Aldana. The scrap was originally scheduled for August 1 before being rescheduled for this event.
