Report: Viviane Araujo Replaces Maryna Moroz At UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Sakai
Maryna Moroz has been pulled from the upcoming UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Sakai card.
Moroz was expected to fight Montana De La Rosa. Fortunately for De La Rosa, Viviane Araujo has stepped in as Moroz’s replacement. Raphael Marinho of Combate first reported the news. The publication cited visa issues as the reason for Moroz’s withdrawal.
De La Rosa (11-5-0) has won four of five under the UFC banner. Those wins are over Christina Marks, Rachael Ostovich, Nadia Kassem and Mara Romero Borella. De La Rosa competed on The Ultimate Fighter 26, making it to the quarterfinals of the reality show before losing to Nicco Montano. De La Rosa has picked up 11 wins as a professional MMA fighter and eight of them came by way of submission.
Araujo (8-2-0) has won two of three in the UFC. Those wins are over the duo of Talita Bernardo and Alexis Davis. Araujo has not earned a victory since defeating the aforementioned Davis came at UFC 240 in July 2019.
UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Sakai takes place on Saturday, September 5 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alistair Overeem and Augusto Sakai will headline the card. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event. Broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
