Report: Polyana Viana vs. Emily Whitmire Rebooked For August 29 UFC Card

A women’s strawweight division attraction has been rebooked for a recently announced UFC card on August 29 as Polyana Viana faces Emily Whitmire.

Combate was the first to report the news, as the bout was scheduled for UFC 248 before Whitmire was pulled from the card due to health issues related to weight cutting.

Whitmire (4-3-0) has won two of four under the UFC banner, with those victories coming over Jamie Moyle and Aleksandra Albu. Whitmire also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26, making it to the quarterfinals before losing to Roxanne Modafferi. Whitmire has suffered three losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came by way of submission.

Viana (10-4-0) enters the contest while riding a three fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the trio of JJ AldrichHannah Cifers and Veronica Macedo. Viana hasn’t picked up a victory in nearly two years, with that last win coming over Maia Stevenson at UFC Fight Night Belem. Viana has picked up ten wins as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came by way of KO/TKO or submission.

The recently announced UFC card is set for Saturday, August 29 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
