Report: Bully Ray’s Contract With ROH Expires, Not Offered A New Deal But The Split Was Mutual

Bully Ray is no longer under ROH contract.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports Bully Ray’s contract with ROH expired and he was not offered a new contract because ROH isn’t offering anyone new contracts right now.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider confirmed this story, noting that the WWE Hall of Famer’s contract expired on on April 1 with his exit being mutually agreed upon prior to COVID-19 turning the world upside down. The original plan reportedly had Ray staying until the Supercard of Honor event over WrestleMania 36 weekend in Florida to finish a storyline with Maria Manic.

There’s reportedly no heat between Ray and the company, just a realization that he had reached a zenith in ROH.

ROH has re-signed Flip Gordon and Bobby Cruise during the pandemic and paid talent for canceled events.

Bully Ray has been part of ROH since 2017 and reportedly helped out with agenting and creative at certain points. He last wrestled for the company on February 29, defeating Caprice Coleman at ROH Gateway To Honor 2020.

Bully Ray still co-hosts Busted Open Radio weekdays on Sirius XM.

Only Danhausen has gotten a new contract offer during the pandemic because there was a storyline built around his deal. Danhausen told Fightful in March that he is a free agent and ROH hasn’t confirmed that Danhausen has signed. Meltzer also notes that ROH has interest in Alex Zayne and Tony Deppen.

ROH has not run shows during the pandemic and it is unknown when they will start running shows again. The company reportedly had plans to hold empty arena television tapings in Baltimore, but those plans were never confirmed by ROH and have reportedly been delayed
