Report: UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker Main Card Draws Over 1 Million Viewers
MMA fans were treated to an instant classic this past weekend when former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier defeated Dan Hooker in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker.
The fans tuned in for the fight of the year candidate, as the six bout main card, which aired live on ESPN, brought in 1.070 million viewers according to MMA Fighting. Other bouts on the main card saw Mike Perry defeat Mickey Gall, Brendan Allen defeat Kyle Daukaus, Maurice Greene defeat Gian Villante, Takashi Sato defeat Jason Witt and Julian Erosa defeat Sean Woodson.
That event drew such a good number that it became the #1 rated show on TV this past Saturday Night.
A four fight preliminary card also aired live on ESPN, with Khama Worthy defeating Luis Pena in the featured spot, and that brought in an average of 635,000 viewers. Other bouts on the preliminary card saw Tanner Boser defeat Philipe Lins, Kay Hansen defeat Jinh Yu Frey and Youssef Zalal defeat Jordan Griffin.
Up next for the UFC is UFC 251 on July 11, which is headlined by a three pack of title bouts, with a preliminary card airing live on ESPN before the main card airs live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
