Report: Anthony Smith vs. Aleksandar Rakic Added To August 29 UFC Card
A light heavyweight division attraction has been added to the recently announced UFC card on August 29 as #6 Anthony Smith faces #9 Aleksandar Rakic.
MMA Play 365 first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Smith (33-15-0) has won just one of his last three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Fight Night Stockholm. Smith has previously challenged for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title, losing to Jon Jones via unanimous decision at UFC 235. Smith is going to be competing in his first non-main event bout in over two years, with that last non-main event bout coming at UFC 225.
Rakic (12-2-0) is looking to rebound from his first loss in the UFC, which came to Volkan Oezdemir at UFC Fight Night Busan. Rakic has won four straight in the UFC before the loss, with notable wins coming over Francimar Barroso and Jimi Manuwa. Rakic has picked up twelve wins as a professional MMA fighter and nine of them came by way of KO/TKO.
The recently announced UFC card is set for Saturday, August 29 from a location to be announced with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
