Shotzi Blackheart Talks Keeping Her Name In NXT, What Name She Would Have Used If She Had To Change
Shotzi Blackheart knew that WWE was going to have her undergo some radical change to her character when she first signed with the company.
While talking to Sports Illustrated, Blackheart spoke about any potential worries that she may have had when she first started with the company and how they may have her character be drastically changed. In reality, Blackheart revealed that she had a strong feeling that they wouldn’t do that too much, adding that she was happy that WWE was on-board with what she already brought to the table.
“Deep down, within me, I had a feeling they weren’t going to rebrand me,” Blackheart said. “I feel like, you just can’t. I’m just too loud. You can’t contain me too much. I did get told by a lot of people, ‘Oh man, you’re going to have to change your name, you’re going to have to change your gimmick. You won’t be able to do this or do that.’ So it was great to come here and learn that everyone was on-board with what I already had going on. I’d already done it on the indies, and it was working, so why mess with it?”
However, if Blackheart did have to change her name in WWE, she already has a new name in mind: Christine Fury.
“I always thought I could come out and be Christine Fury, an ode to one of my favorite movies, Christine. She’s a demon car named Christine and she’s a Plymouth Fury,” Blackheart said.
Blackheart will look to win her first title in WWE when she and Tegan Nox take on WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bayley and Sasha Banks on tonight’s episode of NXT. Fightful will have live coverage of NXT.
