Daniel Bryan Wasn’t Sure What To Do With His Hands While Making His Entrance
Daniel Bryan has one of the most recognizable entrances in all of wrestling as he leads the “YES!” chants while he hops to the ring.
Known for his in-ring expertise before coming to WWE, the knock on Bryan was that his promos didn’t match his wrestling ability. While Bryan admits that the hardest part of wrestling for him was the promos, it was actually “the walk” that always felt most awkward to him.
“When I saw Punk and his interviews and the way he carried himself, he carried himself like a star,” Bryan said when talking to CM Punk on WWE Backstage. “One of the things I never thought about myself, and I still have a weird time, especially with no fans, the hardest part of wrestling for me was promos, which I’ve gotten more comfortable with, and walking to the ring. That moment, from the time you get out to the time you get into the ring, I always felt so weird. ‘What do I do with my hands!?!?!’ I got away with it (because of YES! chants). Easy crutch, right? ‘Yeah, now I don’t have to think about what I do.’ Now, with no people, it feels really awkward because they still want me to do it, and if I don’t do it, what do I do with my hands?”
If only Ricky Bobby had slowed down just a bit, he could have come up with the “YES!” chants and knew what to do with his hands.
