WWE NXT Takeover: In Your House Results New NXT Women’s Champion Crowned, Kross Overcomes Ciampa
The Velveteen Dream looks to dethrone the longest reigning NXT champion tonight at 7PM EST!
Good evening Fight Fans and welcome to our coverage for NXT Takeover: In Your House headlined by the NXT Championship Backlot Brawl match between Adam Cole and Velveteen Dream!
– We open the show with a video package for tonight’s card before we start the action in the PC with a musical performance by Code Orange who are doing the theme for tonight’s event before we have the entrances for our opening match between Shotzi Blackheart, Tegan Nox, Mia Yim and Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez.
Six Women Tag Team Match
Mia and Candice start things off before Candice tags in Raquel almost immediately and they lock up before Raquel shoves Mia back into the corner and tosses her away when Mia goes for a waist lock takedown. Mia goes for a standing guillotine before Raquel muscles her way out and Mia tags in Nox who gets dropped with a shoulder tackle before Nox rolls up Kai when she comes in. Nox catches a kick and hits Kai with a forearm before Kai rolls Nox up for two and they counter each other’s pin attempts before Nox headbutts Kai and hits a running back elbow in the corner into an inverted cannonball for two. Shotzi comes in and hits a bulldog before she gets caught in the ropes and Kai rocks her with a kick for two before Candice misses a step up senton and rolls out of the ring before all of the women face off and take turns hitting topes. Back in the ring Shotzi hits a diving meteora into an inverted cannonball with Candice in the ropes for two before locking in a double armbar with a bridge that Kai breaks up.
Raquel clotheslines Shotzi when Kai is busy with the referee for two by Candice before Candice drags Shotzi to the corner and Kai comes back in and chokes Shotzi in the corner. Kai, Raquel and LeRae isolate Shotzi before Shotzi hits a jawbreaker into an enzuigiri to Kai before LeRae drags her away from her corner and Shotzi slides through her legs to get the tag to Mia. Mia clotheslines LeRae several times before hitting a bridging dragon suplex for two and hits Raquel on the apron before Candice counters Soul Food into a suplex before Raquel and Tegan get tags for their respective teams. Tegan rocks Raquel with a flurry of strikes before Raquel catches her when she runs the ropes and powerbombs her when she goes for a head scissors for a two count that Mia breaks up. Mia and Candice then brawl to the back before Kai accidentally boots Raquel and Nox chokeslams Kai before Shotzi hits Raquel with a shiranui and Nox hits Kai with The Shiniest Wizard for the pin and the win.
Winner: Tegan Nox, Shotzi Blackheart and Mia Yim defeat Dakota Kai, Raquel Gonzalez and Candice LeRae via pinfall.
– After the match we get a commercial for WWE/Good Humor branded ice cream sandwiches before we get a video package for Finn Balor and Damian Priest up next.
Finn Balor vs Damian Priest
Finn immediately sends Priest out of the ring with a shotgun dropkick before chopping Priest in the corner and taking his leg out before stomping him down until Priest rolls out of the ring. Finn goes after Priest at ringside and hits him with a running forearm before Priest sends him into the steps and drops him with a stiff forearm before dropping him across the edge of the apron. Priest tosses the steps away from the post before dropping Finn back first across the apron and Finn rolls back into the ring before Priest drops him with another stiff forearm. Finn tries to come back and mounts some momentary offense before Priest powerbombs Finn onto the apron and hits several running back elbows into the corner before Finn hits a sling blade out of the corner. Priest rocks Finn with a pair of roundhouse kicks before Finn comes back with a shotgun dropkick into the corner and climbs to the top before Priest grabs him by the throat and hits a diving choke bomb for a near fall.
Priest takes Finn out onto the apron before they exchange until Finn counters a powerbomb and knocks Priest off of the apron and back first into the steps that he bounces off of. Back in the ring Finn hits a diving stomp across the back of Priest before climbing back up and hitting the Coup De Grace for the pin and the win.
Winner: Finn Balor defeats Damian Priest via pinfall.
– We come back to Io Shirai getting ready backstage before we get a graphic for the North American Championship match between the champion Keith Lee and the challenger Johnny Gargano before we get a video package for the match.
NXT North American Championship Match
Keith Lee (c) vs Johnny Gargano
Lee whips Johnny away when he tries to lock up and tosses him away when Johnny goes for a headlock before they dodge each other’s kicks and Johnny falls back into the corner wide eyed as Keith smirks. Johnny rushes Keith and runs into a brick wall before Keith goes out after him and Johnny runs back into the ring before he goes for a suicide dive and Johnny grabs the ropes before Keith can powerbomb him into the steps. Keith catches Johnny when he goes for a head scissors and sends Johnny into the apron before Johnny tries to roll back into the ring to escape and Keith drags him back out before Johnny tries to leave out of the front door on the stage. Keith sends Johnny face first into the door and chops him before tossing Johnny down the ramp and back to ringside before Johnny rolls back in and Johnny stomps Keith when he’s getting back in, Gargano trying his best to ground the powerhouse Lee. Keith gets to his feet and throws Johnny across the ring before dropping him with a left hand and Johnny rocks Keith with an enzuigiri before taking him down punches him against the ropes.
Johnny locks in a chin bar before hitting a running chop in the corner and punching Keith in the corner before rocking the champion with a boot and stomping on Keith’s hand that he injured on NXT before focusing on it solely for several minutes while playing to the NXT Superstar crowd at ringside. Back in the ring Johnny gets a quick two count before taking Keith’s back who gets to his feet with Johnny on his back and Johnny drops him with an elbow to the back of the neck before hitting several knee drops for two. Johnny hits Keith with right hands when he’s up to his knees before Keith grabs Johnny’s wrist and drops him with several wrist lock clotheslines and counters a slingshot spear into a backbreaker for two. Keith goes to lift Johnny who slides out of the back and hits Keith with forearms before Keith drops him with a right hand and goes for a single armed powerbomb that Johnny turns into an armbar and Keith turns him inside out for two. Johnny gets a near fall off of a sunset flip before Keith counters the Gargano Escape and Johnny superkicks him before countering a jack hammer for a near fall.
Johnny superkicks Keith before Lee hits a pop-up slam and Johnny rolls out of the ring and falls onto the floor to avoid the cover before Lee rolls Johnny back into the ring and Johnny hits a suicide dive into a tornado DDT onto the floor. Johnny tries to lift Keith back into the ring, but he can’t before he breaks the counter and pleads with the referee before he goes back outside and Keith launches him into the air and through the plexiglass shield wall set up on top of the barricade at ringside. Keith brings Johnny back down to the ring before Candice comes out and distracts him, Mia coming out behind her before she chases Candice into the ring and they end up brawling at ringside. Johnny digs into the eyes of Keith like he did Wednesday while the referee is distracted before Johnny hits a slingshot spear for a near fall before superkicking Keith three times for a near fall. Lee then hits a Spirit Bomb before Johnny rolls away and Keith calls for the finish before hitting a powerbomb into The Big Bang Catastrophe for the pin and the win.
Winner: Keith Lee retains his NXT North American Championship by defeating Johnny Gargano via pinfall.
– We get a video package for the NXT Championship match between the champion, the leader of The Undisputed Era, Adam Cole and the challenger Velveteen Dream in which Cole will defend in a Backlot Brawl match where if Dream loses he can never challenge for the title again for as long as Cole is champion.
NXT Championship Backlot Brawl Match
Adam Cole (c) vs The Velveteen Dream
Cole comes out in truck while Dream comes out to the lot in a sports car before they get into the ring in the center of the circle of cars parked with their lights on before Adam tries to hit Dream with his belt and Dream turns it into a series of pin attempts for two. Cole rolls out of the ring and back in before dropping Dream with a boot when he pursues him before punching Dream in mount and grabs his belt before he gets into a car and Dream climbs on top of the car before hitting it with a baseball bat. Cole gets out and they brawl among the cars before an Uber shows up and the referee tells it to leave before the brawl continues and Dream sends Cole into a trash can before he tries to hit him with it and Cole rolls out of the way. Dream stalks Cole with a trash can and its lid before Cole hides and Dream opens a door before Cole sprays him with a fire extinguisher, Cole rocking Dream with forearms before they make their way back to ringside. Cole beats on Dream before Dream sends him into the post and hitting a double ax handle off of the apron and rolling Adam back into the ring before Dream goes to cover him, but Cole scrambles out of the ring.
Dream gets superkicked in mid-air when he comes off of the top and goes for another double ax handle before Dream superkicks him when Adam goes for the Panama Sunrise off of the apron. Dream powerslams Cole onto the hood of a car before bringing in a ladder and setting it up against the car before climbing it and Dream is distracted by a car driven by the rest of UE who honk the horn and flash their lights. Dream knocks Cole off of the ladder and into the windshield where he’s cut open before the rest of UE attack Dream and beat him down before they check on Adam and toss a large quantity of chairs into a pile in the ring. Dexter Lumis comes out from underneath the apron and attacks UE with a chair before putting them in the trunk of a car and speeding off with them. Cole gets back to the ring and climbs to the top before Dream counters the Panama Sunrise into a DVD onto the for a near fall before Cole sets a chair up and hits the Purple Rainmaker through a chair for another near fall.
Cole then low blows Dream before hitting the Panama Sunrise onto all of the chairs piled in the center of the ring for the pin and the win.
Winner: Adam Cole retains his NXT Championship by defeating Velveteen Dream via pinfall.
– We get a graphic and video package for Tommaso Ciampa versus Karrion Kross up next as we go back to the ring for the entrances.
Tommaso Ciampa vs Karrion Kross w/Scarlett
Ciampa hits Kross with forearms and a boot before Kross tosses him into the corner and drops him with a boot before suplexing him and they end up at ringside where Ciampa sends Kross face first into the steps. Back in the ring Kross counters the Widows Bell before Ciampa drops him with a kick, but Kross is right back up before sending Ciampa over the top rope and drops him across the edge of the apron. Kross tosses Ciampa back into the ring and suplexes him before kneeing Ciampa in the corner and hitting a northern lights suplex into a clothesline before Ciampa comes back with strikes and an enzuigiri into a running knee that sends Kross out of the ring. Ciampa hits Widows Bell when Kross tries to get back into the ring for two before hitting several running knees and Kross counters the Fairytale Ending into an F5 and locks in the Kross Jacket. Ciampa then passes out and the referee is forced to call for the bell.
Winner: Karrion Kross defeats Tommaso Ciampa via referee stoppage.
– After the match we get a plug for a shirt that NXT designed with Code Orange that’s available for a limited time before we get a graphic and video package for the NXT Women’s Championship Triple Threat match between the champion, Charlotte and challengers Io Shirai and Rhea Ripley in our main event.
NXT Women’s Championship Triple Threat Match
Charlotte (c) vs Io Shirai vs Rhea Ripley
Charlotte rolls out of the ring and tells Rhea and Io to go at it before Rhea and Io lock up and Rhea shoves Io away before Charlotte comes back in and pulls Rhea down by her hair. Io rolls Rhea up for two before Charlotte hits Rhea from behind and Io slams Charlotte by her hair before Rhea drops her with a boot and Charlotte hits Io with a fall away slam. Charlotte chops both Rhea and Io while playing to the crowd before they beat Charlotte down in the corner and Rhea headbutts Io before Rhea misses a cannonball off of the apron and Charlotte sends her into the barricade. Io hits a head scissors off of the apron before Charlotte sends her into the post and into Rhea into the barricade before Charlotte rolls Io back inside and locks in a lion tamer. Io kicks Charlotte away before Rhea clotheslines Charlotte several times and hits her with knees in a cravat before dropping her with a boot and hitting a basement dropkick.
Io hits Rhea with a shotgun dropkick and hits Charlotte with a 619 before hitting a sunset flip into a jumping stomp and a shotgun basement dropkick for two. Rhea and Io drop each other before Charlotte hits a double clothesline for two counts on both Rhea and Io before dragging them to the corner and putting them side by side before missing a moonsault. Io rolls up Charlotte before Rhea rolls her up and Io counters The Riptide and locks in a cross face on Charlotte before Rhea kicks her to break it up and Charlotte boots Rhea for two. Rhea counters Natural Selection and pancakes Charlotte before Io hits a springboard missile dropkick to Rhea and hits a running meteora in the corner to Rhea before Charlotte hits her with Natural Selection for a near fall. Io gets two off of a backslide before Charlotte tries to lock in the Figure Eight and Rhea drags her out of the ring before they brawl until Io hits Rhea with a suicide dive and Charlotte hits her with a running forearm from behind.
Charlotte sends Io through the window on the set before Rhea hits her with a potted plant and Charlotte goes for a spear before they brawl on the floor before they get back to their feet and Charlotte sends Rhea into the plexiglass. We pan out to Io on top of the set before hitting a diving cross body that takes out both Rhea and Charlotte before Rhea stops her from hitting a moonsault when she rolls Charlotte back into the ring. Rhea spears Charlotte into the corner before climbing to the top and attempting to superplex Io before Rhea counters a frankensteiner and Charlotte boots her when she’s upside down. Charlotte climbs up top and Rhea headbutts her before hitting an avalanche rip tide for a near fall that Io breaks up before Rhea misses a boot and Io rocks her with shoteis before Rhea locks in a cloverleaf that Charlotte breaks up by hitting Rhea with a Kendo stick. Charlotte then hits Rhea and Io with the Kendo stick before spearing Rhea and locking in a figure four that she turns into a Figure Eight before Io hits a moonsault onto Rhea for the pin and the win.
Winner: Io Shirai defeats Charlotte and Rhea Ripley via pinfall to become the new NXT Women’s champion.
