UFC Star Youssef Zalal Starts Go Fund Me To Help Moroccan People Affected By Coronavirus Pandemic
While Zalal currently resides in the United States, most of his family resides in Morocco, which is a country being ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic.
WorldOMeters reports that 5,711 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus in Morocco, with 186 of those folks passing due to the virus.
Zalal, in an effort to help the people of Morocco battle the coronavirus, has launched a Go Fund Me page.
Here is what has been written by Zalal on his Go Fund Me page:
My name is Youssef Zalal, I’m a UFC fighter out of Colorado. I was born and raised in Casablanca, Morocco, where my mom, sister, and most of my family still live. Many of you know COVID-19 is affecting everyone around the world, and with Ramadan coming up, many are without food and supplies to get them through the Holiday. My family back in Casablanca, Morocco will be putting together aid packages for families in our city during this time. About $50 can feed a family of 4-6 for a month, and our goal is to help feed at least 60 families who are struggling. The picture is an example of some packages that my cousin and his coworkers were able to put together. I appreciate any and all contributions, no matter how small, that my friends, peers, and supporters are able to make to help my community back home. I know times are tough for everyone right now, so we are truly grateful for all your help. Thank you guys so much!!!
The needs are very basic, an aid package for 1 family will include:
-a bag of flour
-olive oil
-tea
-cheese
-chicken/beef
-lentils
-pasta
-vegetables
-potatoes
-honey
-eggs(also, a very generous donor has offered to coverany incurred fees so that all donations will go directly to the families)
There is no word yet on when Zalal, who holds a 8-2-0 professional MMA record, will compete again.
