Shawn Michaels Comments On AJ Styles, And If That Dream Match Could Actually Happen

WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels was interviewed by Dallas radio station 105.3 THE FAN's Troy Hughes and Kevin Hageland in Dallas to promote his new movie, the faith-based drama The Resurrection of Gavin Stone. During the interview, the conversation veered toward the rumors that "HBK" and WWE Champion AJ Styles could face off at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in San Antonio on January 27.

The Heartbreak Kid lived up to his name with his response, as he broke all of our hearts by saying that this dream match probably isn't going to happen.

"No one has even contacted me about that show. I don't know if anyone cares that I'm from there," Michaels said. "I think the WWE has happily moved on from me."

Michaels actually volunteered that his and AJ's paths have crossed before, but while the current champ made quite the impression, Michaels says the retired life suits him just fine.

"I met AJ Styles once, he's a phenomenal young man," Michaels said, probably not intending the pun. "He's a very nice, very respectable young man and is unbelievably talented. I'm honored that my name pops up darn near every week in people's wish for guys to wrestle. That's a compliment to me and I'm thankful of that. But I'm very comfortable with my life and being retired."

Michaels also discussed his role with WWE's Performance Center, his days working in a pizza joint and his new movie. The full interview is available at this link.
