Court Date For Death Of Matt Travis Pushed Back To July
There is an update in the court date regarding the death of independent wrestler Matt Travis.
Luc Vu, the man who was arrested after a truck he was reportedly driving struck Travis last year, was originally set to appear in court on April 20. According to a report from PWInsider, Vu is now slated to appear before New York Criminal Court on July 20.
Travis, 25, was on a bicycle at East 125th Street and First Avenue in New York on November 9 when he was struck by a dump truck reportedly driven by Vu close 3 a.m. ET.
According to past reports, investigators determined a Kenworth dump truck traveling southbound on First Avenue made an illegal left turn onto East 125th Street attempting to enter the Willis Avenue Bridge and struck Travis as he traveled southbound on a bike path coming off the bridge. It is unclear if Vu knew he had hit Travis, who was returning from wrestling training. Travis was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival.
Travis wrestled for House of Glory, CZW, GCW, and other Independent promotions. HOG dedicated its No Limit event on November 16 to Travis. The November 20 tag team between the team of Santana & Ortiz and Private Party on AEW Dynamite was also dedicated to Travis.
