Report: Recently Fired Writer Talked Vince McMahon Into HIAC Main Event
According to a new report, a recently fired writer was the reason Sasha Banks and Charlotte headlined Hell in a Cell.
Tom Casiello was let go from WWE last week, after serving behind Triple H and Vince McMahon as the #3 name in creative. The company told him that they were eliminating his position for budget reasons. Casiello was in a spot previously occupied by Stephanie McMahon, where he'd coordinate creative and send it to Vince. Instead, head writers Ed Koskey and Ryan Ward will report to Triple H.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that Casiello heavily pushed the WWE women's division. Casiello also was crucial in convincing Vince McMahon to main event Hell in a Cell with Sasha Banks and Charlotte's match.
Casiello, while admitting he was a big advocate of the division, opened up about the situation.
"If Vince doesn't want to do something, he doesn't do it. If he wants to, he does it. Did I work closely with the Women's Division? Yes. I did. From Day one. And I always fought to get them more time and better stories, etc. But believe me when I say it takes an ARMY of people to make Raw and SDL happen. And EVERYONE is behind what's been happening with the Division. And EVERYONE works together to see it through. So for everyone posting and speculating and wondering if this means the Women's Division is suddenly going to go back to bra and panties matches that are 3 minutes long… stop. These women are unstoppable. They're here to stay, no matter who's writing the show."
