Report: UFC 249 Taking Place In Florida

We are just over two weeks away from UFC 249 and while there may not be an exact location revealed for the event, it appears that the state the event is going to be held in is known.

MMA Fighting is reporting that the state of Florida is set to be the host of UFC 249, although an exact spot within the state isn’t known at the moment. The report also reveals that all fighters competing on the card are going to be flown to Jacksonville, Florida before being taken to the secret location where the show is being held at.

The show is set to be an empty arena affair, with only fighters and essential personnel being allowed at the secret location. A representative from the Florida State Boxing Commission (FSBC) has informed MMA Fighting that they are ready to oversee the UFC 249 card.

Fightful contacted the FSBC about the UFC 249 card being in Florida and a rep from the commission issued the following statement:

“The Florida State Boxing Commission has confirmed that UFC 249 will be held in Jacksonville. The details are still being finalized and will be released as soon as they are available.”

This is going to be the second professional MMA card to be held in Florida since the pandemic, as a regional MMA event called Combat Night: Combat Pro 18 ran an event in the state on March 21.

UFC 249 takes place on Saturday, May 9 from an undisclosed location in Florida with Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
