Rey Mysterio Explains Why He Missed WrestleMania 36, Says WWE Doctors Made The Call
For months Rey Mysterio had been involved in a feud with Andrade over the United States Championship. The feud turned into a multi-man feud that also involved Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza. It looked like some type of match involving the four men was being set up for WrestleMania 36, but things didn’t work out that way.
Mysterio wrestled on the March 16 episode of WWE Raw, but was then sent home after feeling under the weather. In an interview with FOX Sports MX, Mysterio explained why he didn’t make it to WrestleMania 36.
“Unfortunately, I couldn’t travel to Orlando for WrestleMania. I was supposed to do something, but on Saturday morning, I had a cold. I didn’t have the symptoms for coronavirus. I didn’t have a headache. My throat was fine, my temperature was perfect. The only thing was that I was showing signs of a cold. I came home from Orlando earlier that week. It was a little warm. I came to my home in San Diego and it was raining, a little colder than usual, so the climate change affected me. It was a decision from the WWE doctors for me to stay home and not provoke anything and to keep our health intact. The best decision was for me to return home,” he said.
With Mysterio unable to work the event, Andrade and Angel Garza vs. The Street Profits for the Raw Tag Team Titles was announced for WrestleMania 36. Andrade was then replaced by Austin Theory after suffering a rib injury. It is unknown when Mysterio will return to WWE TV.
