Daniel Cormier Still Wants Trilogy Bout With Stipe Miocic, Could Retire Due To Coronavirus Pandemic

Former two division UFC champion Daniel Cormier hasn’t competed since losing the heavyweight title to Stipe Miocic in their second encounter at UFC 241.

DC says that he still wants a third fight with Miocic and that encounter could still go down this Summer.

“I don’t think it’s shifted too much,” Cormier said to Bloody Elbow. “I think that we were looking at the summer, late summer, anyways. I think by late summer we should be getting back rolling as a country, as an organization. It affects the ability to go into the gym right now as I would be, but I don’t know the effects of that with some of these other things.”

One thing that has caused a lot of problems for MMA and the world as a whole is the coronavirus, which has caused the UFC to already postpone three events.

Cormier says that if the coronavirus pandemic continues on through the Fall, it could lead to the end of his professional MMA career.

“Yeah. This thing starts going to late fall, getting into the winter, there’s no way. I’d be done. Yeah, I think it needs to happen by the summer,” he said.

The UFC expects to go to a full schedule after UFC 249 on April 18, so there is a chance that DC could get a third bout with Miocic before retiring.
