King Corbin: Roman Reigns Is ‘The Guy,’ I Want To Take That Spot
King Corbin spent the majority of 2019 feuding at the top of the card with Seth Rollins on Raw and Roman Reigns on SmackDown. On top of high profile feuds, he retired Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35 and won the 2019 King of the Ring.
But despite his position near the top of the card, Corbin wants to be at the very top.
“It’s a double-edged sword. It’s awesome, but also frustrating at times as well. In my brain, 18 months I’ve been running the main event on every live event and most television shows and some pay-per-views. That’s where I want to be and it’s amazing to get there, but then you get there and you go, ‘Alright, I want more.’ I get Roman’s The Guy, but how do I become The Guy? How do I become who Roman Reigns is? I need to get on his level, I want to take that spot. That’s what frustrates me. That continual thought of ‘who do I have to push out of the way and how do I do it to become The Guy?’ It’s not always having the WWE Championship that makes you The Guy. If someone calls Vince and goes, ‘We need your number one superstar to come do this,’ it’s going to be Roman Reigns. No matter where he’s at. He’s The Guy,” said Corbin on WWE After The Bell.
Reigns is set to challenge Goldberg for the Universal Title at WrestleMania 36 while Corbin is currently without a match.
