Report: Edson Barboza Faces Josh Emmett At UFC Fight Night Oklahoma City

A featherweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Oklahoma City as #10 (LW) Edson Barboza faces #9 Josh Emmett.

Combate first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.

Barboza (20-8-0) is dropping to featherweight after having previously competed at lightweight, with the fighter earning a 14-8-0 record as a lightweight in the UFC. Barboza has won just one of his last five under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Dan Hooker at UFC On Fox 31. Barboza has picked up twenty wins as a professional MMA fighter and twelve of them came by way of KO/TKO.

Emmett (15-2-0) enters the contest riding a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Michael Johnson and Mirsad Bektic. Emmett is going to be competing for the first time in almost a year, as his last bout took place in July of last year. Emmett has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter and both of them came in UFC competition.

UFC Fight Night Oklahoma City takes place on Saturday, May 2 from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Jack Hermansson and Chris Weidman headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
