Israel Adesanya did enough to win retain the UFC Middleweight Championship in the main event of UFC 248 against Yoel Romero.
The fight didn’t have much in the way of fireworks, but Adesanya avoided the majority of Romero’s power shots and did enough with his striking to came away with a unanimous decision victory (48-47, 48-47, 49-46).
Here’s how fighters reacted to the fight:
Not even Adesanya believe he won…I had Romero all the way!

I love Izzy, but in my honest opinion, Romero won that due to extreme inactivity on both parties but Romero doing slightly more. #UFC248

This was a scary fight for Izzy I don’t think he fights like this again Yoels just so scary with his slowness to explosiveness

Man it was weird but I had Yoel winning the last round which would be #AndNew 3-2 for Yoel. But I don’t know what the hell just happened! —

Adesanya won I think. You can’t take too much risk with Yoel though.

Really hope this isn’t how Izzy gets his first loss

What a joke. Awful judging again. You literally have to finish a @UFC champ to take their belt. So bad. Adesanya defended a belt on leg kicks alone ?!?! #UFC248
