WWE Smackdown on FOX Results for 3/6/20 Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode Victorious in Gauntlet Match
The Smackdown Women’s champion and the Boss team up in a rematch and the NWO make their Smackdown on FOX debut!
Good evening Fight Fans and welcome to our coverage of tonight’s edition of WWE Smackdown on FOX!
-We open tonight’s show with a recap of The Fiend challenging John Cena to a match at the end of last week’s show before the return of the Firefly Fun House is announced for later tonight and a tag team gauntlet match later tonight. We then open the show in the arena with Alex Bliss and Nikki Cross out for A Moment of Bliss which continues the theme of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2020 which so far will feature Batista, JBL and the Bella Twins as well as tonight’s guests, The NWO in the form of Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman minus “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan who commentary make sure to clarify will be inducted, but isn’t there tonight. Alexa notes that all three of them are now two time hall of famers before Nikki takes a selfie with them and Alexa asks Sean what he should be called since he’s had several names and he says to just call him a hall of famer. Alexa brings up NWO’s feud with Goldberg and notes how Kevin broke Goldberg’s undefeated streak back in WCW and asks him what Roman Reigns has to do to defeat him at Wrestlemania. They’re interrupted by Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro before Sami says that NWO are the past and the future is Shinsuke, Cesaro and himself who will be defeating Braun Strowman and Shinsuke will reclaim the Intercontinental championship.
Sami talks about how great Kevin and Scott are before mocking Sean. The NWO mock Sami before the six men square off and Sami and company opt to leave, saying that they’re focused on their objective before Braun comes out and sends Cesaro into the stage and Shinsuke into the barricade before hunting down Sami. Sami then escapes by using Alexa as a shield before he, Shinsuke and Cesaro leave as Braun celebrates with the NWO. We then go backstage to Naomi and Lacey talking as they make their way out to the arena as we go to commercial.
Bayley & Sasha Banks vs Naomi & Lacey Evans
Bayley and Sasha immediately double up on Lacey in their corner before Bayley goes around ringside and Naomi attacks her before Sasha sends Naomi into the barricade as we go to commercial.
We come back to Sasha in control of Lacey, focusing on her ankle before Lacey kicks her away and Bayley rushes in and grounds her for a quick two count, making her use energy to kick out before Lacey sends Bayley out of the ring when she and Sasha try to stop Lacey from getting the tag to Naomi. Lacey clears the ring and makes the tag to Naomi who hits a corkscrew cross body to the outside and tosses Sasha back into the ring where she kicks her before Sasha hits a bicycle knee and Naomi hits a question mark kick. Naomi sends Sasha into the middle turnbuckle before Bayley breaks up a in and is sent back out of the ring by Lacey who is sent back out by Sasha. Bayley then distracts Naomi before Sasha hits a meteora with Naomi trapped in the ropes for the pin and the win.
Winner: Sasha Banks and Bayley defeat Naomi and Lacey Evans via pinfall.
-After the match we go backstage to the New Day who are interviewed about the gauntlet match later tonight in which the winning team will get an advantage in the tag title elimination chamber match at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view Sunday night before we go to Sheamus coming out for his match up next as we go to commercial.
-We come back from commercial to Bayley and Sasha celebrating backstage before saying that no one from any era can touch them before deciding to take the rest of the night off and leave the arena before Chad Gable talks to Apollo Crews and tells him that he has his back if he needs him and Apollo just walks away and out to the arena.
Apollo Crews vs Sheamus
Sheamus dumps Apollo over the top rope and goes for clubbing blows, but Apollo counters and hits a diving cross body into a standing moonsault for two before Sheamus comes back with right hands and Apollo counters a back suplex into a shotgun dropkick. Sheamus then hits a Brogue Kick out of no where when Apollo comes at him for the pin and the win.
Winner: Sheamus defeats Apollo Crews via pinfall.
-We go backstage after the match to 205 Live general manager Drake Maverick lobbying Drew Gulak for a match against Daniel Bryan and Drew tells Drake that he knows all of Daniel’s weaknesses before Daniel shows up and challenges Drew to a match at Elimination Chamber as we go to commercial.
Carmella & Dana Brooke vs Fire & Desire w/ Dolph Ziggler
Mandy backs Carmella into the corner for a clean break before Carmella mocks her with a moon walk and Mandy stretches her in the ropes before Sonya comes in and hits Carmella with a sliding leg lariat for two. Sonya shoves Carmella down and locks in a rear chin lock as Dolph looks on from ringside before putting her in a body scissors and Carmella reverses and hits a huricanrrana. Dana gets the tag and she and Carmella double up on Sonya before kicking Sonya and hitting a hand spring back elbow into a dropkick. Mandy then gets the blind tag and drops Dana with a running knee for the pin and the win off of a distraction by Dolph.
Winner: Fire & Desire defeat Dana Brooke and Carmella via pinfall.
-The return of the Firefly Fun House is shown on a graphic up next as we go to commercial.
-We come back to a video package for the RAW women’s elimination chamber match before we get the latest edition of the Firefly Fun House where Bray thanks John Cena and that he forgives him, but The Fiend isn’t as forgiving as he is and that everything will come full circle at Wrestlemania as we get a graphic for Cena and The Fiend at Wrestlemania before we go to a video recapping Roman Reigns challenging Goldberg for the Universal championship at Wrestlemania on this week’s Match Flo. We then get a backstage interview with Baron Corbin who says that he’s finished with Roman before he’s interrupted by Elias’ guitar and walks off set to yell at him before mocking him and threatening Elias before walking away. We then go to Heavy Machinery where Otis tells Mandy that she’s sorry, but she doesn’t accept his apology and says that she doesn’t like being stood up like that before walking away and we get a graphic for the tag team gauntlet match up next as we go to commercial.
Tag Team Gauntlet Match
New Day vs Heavy Machinery
Kofi and Tucker kick things off by running the ropes until Kofi drops Tucker with a jumping back elbow and Tucker hits a running splash in the corner before he goes for a monkey flip and Kofi lands on his feet and they dodge each other before mirroring a dropkick. E comes in and says that he wants Otis who obliges and they try to knock each other over until Otis hits a spinning scoop slam and tags Tucker in before HM hit delayed suplexes to both members of the New Day before clearing the ring. Otis then clotheslines both Kofi and Big-E at ringside before HM celebrate with the WWE Universe as we go to commercial.
We come back to Otis trying to keep E from tagging in Kofi, but to no avail and Kofi hits a diving clothesline into a jumping clothesline and a Boom Drop before Tucker ducks a kick and Kofi hits a missile dropkick before New Day go for an assisted tope, but Tucker catches Kofi and slams him onto the ramp before HM hit the Compactor to E for the pin and the elimination. Lucha House Party come out out next and Metalik and Lince immediately drop Otis with springboard moves before Tucker comes in and does a cartwheel when Lince tries to hit an arm drag before running him over for two. Tucker takes the Golden Lynx down to the mat before Metalik tags in and hits an assisted splash off of the shoulders of Lince for two and Otis comes in and drops both members of LHP with a shoulder block when they hit him with a series of chops. LHP then clear the ring and hit stereo springboard cross bodies as we go to commercial.
We return to the ring to HM in control of Lince, Tucker isolating him before Lince kicks him away and gets hit with a running splash in the corner before dodging a second one and getting taken down to the mat by Otis who then locks in a bear hug. Lince breaks free and hits a jawbreaker before sending Otis out of the ring, but Otis rushes back in and stops him from getting the tag before Lince hits the Golden Rewind before Metalik and Tucker get the tag. Metalik hits a sling blade into a missile dropkick for two before Lince hits a diving splash for two and Tucker drops him with a back elbow before stomping him and hitting a running splash for two. Tucker hits an overhead suplex and knocks Metalik off of the apron before Otis hits a running splash in the corner into the Caterpillar for the pin and the elimination before The Usos come out next as we go to commercial.
We come back to Jey having Tucker in a straight arm bar on the mat before Tucker gets to his feet and Jimmy gets the blind tag before Jey knocks Otis off of the apron and Jimmy super kicks Tucker before Tucker pins Jimmy out of no where with a back slide for a very quick elimination as the tag team champions The Miz and John Morrison come out next. Miz is all over Tucker with strikes, driving him back into the corner before John hits a springboard roundhouse kick into a spine buster by Miz for two. The Miz and Morrison isolate Tucker and keep him in their half of the ring until he comes back, but Miz knocks Otis off of the apron so he cannot get the tag. John hits a flipping, diving elbow drop for a near fall that Otis breaks up before Miz takes care of Otis and Tucker pins John out of nowhere for the elimination. The Miz and John attack Tucker and hit him with a diving stomp into a Skull Crushing Finale before sending Otis through the barricade as we go to Mandy and Dolph backstage. Dolph and Robert Roode then come out to the ring as the last competitors in the gauntlet match as we go to commercial.
We return to the action in the ring to Otis still down at ringside as Roode has control of Tucker in the ring before Dolph dropkicks Tucker for two and he and Roode double up on Tucker for two before Otis gets to his feet and sends Roode into the announce table. Otis claws his way to the apron and gets onto it before Dolph hits a neckbreaker for two and Tucker dodges Dolph before clotheslining Roode and getting the tag to Otis. Otis knocks Dolph off of the apron and hits Roode with an overhead belly to belly before catching Roode when he comes off of the top. Roode dropkicks Otis into the corner before Otis sends Roode into the post and Dolph gets the blind tag before Otis goes for the Caterpillar and Dolph superkicks him for the pin, elimination and the win.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode win via pinfall by last eliminating Heavy Machinery.
