WWE NXT Results for 3/4/20 Roderick Strong vs Velveteen Dream in a Steel Cage Match
The Velveteen Dream and the Messiah of the Backbreaker clash one more time in a steel cage!
Hey Fight Fans, good evening and welcome to our coverage of tonight’s edition of WWE NXT!
-We open the show with a recap of last week’s show before we get a video package for tonight’s show headlined by a steel cage match between Roderick Strong and Velveteen Dream.
Steel Cage Match
Dakota Kai w/ Raquel Gonzalez vs Tegan Nox
They meet in the middle before exchanging until Tegan takes Kai down and beats her down once she gets to her feet. Kai dodges a running knee before Nox hits a diving cross body and rains down punches in mount for two before hitting a snap mare into a back elbow to the back of the neck for two. Kai comes back and stomps Nox in the corner before choking her with a boot in the corner and Nox comes back with a running uppercut in the corner for two. Nox then hits several more running back elbows before hitting a cannonball and Kai sends Nox into the side of the cage as we go to commercial.
We come back to Nox sending Kai into the side of the cage before stomping her in the corner and driving her face into the side of the cage. Nox gets two and hits a fall away slam for another two count before Kai hits a destroyer backbreaker for two and Nox opts to escape by climbing out of the cage. Kai meets Nox on the top rope before Nox sends Kai off of the top rope and is seemingly in shock at what she just did to her former best friend. They exchange running moves in the corner until Nox gets two as Raquel looks on at ringside before Nox climbs to the top of the cage and hits a diving cross body off of the top of the cage. Nox tries to escape through the door before Raquel stops her and Kai accidentally sends the door into Raquel before Nox hits the Shiniest Wizard for a near fall.
Raquel stops Nox again before Nox sends Kai off of the top of the cage and stops Raquel from pulling Kai out of the ring. Raquel then traps Nox between the door and the cage and Kai escapes for the win.
Winner: Dakota Kai defeats Tegan Nox when she escapes the cage.
-After the match we get a video package narrated by Finn Bálor about WALTER and Imperium as we go to commercial after a graphic for a preview of the NXT Women’s Championship match at Wrestlemania.
-We come back to an extended video package for the NXT Women’s Championship match between the champion Rhea Ripley and Charlotte at Wrestlemania.
Shotzi Blackheart vs Chelsea Green w/Robert Stone
Shotzi counters a standing switch and takes Chelsea down before hitting a leg drop into an enzuigiri before Chelsea traps Shotzi in the ropes and hits a back stabber for two. Chelsea drops Shotzi with a boot for two before following Shotzi sets Chelsea on the top turnbuckle and Chelsea hits a missile dropkick. Chelsea then hits an unprettier for the pin and the win.
Winner: Chelsea Green defeats Shotzi Blackheart via pinfall.
-We then get a graphic for NXT North American champion Keith Lee who will address the NXT Universe up next as we go to commercial.
-We come back to Keith in the ring before he says that ever since he’s become champion he’s had plenty of suitors for his title, including Dominik Dijakovic and Damian Priest before he’s interrupted by Cameron Grimes. Grimes gets into the ring and says that he doesn’t need to be talking about Dom or Damian and that he needs to be talking about him. Cameron references his victory over Dom last week before pointing out that it took Keith twenty minutes to defeat Dom. Grimes then tells Keith that he’s gone through William Regal and will challenge Keith for the title next week before Keith drops him and sends him out of the ring.
-We go to an interview with Austin Theory before he’s interrupted by Isaiah Scott and Scott challenges Theory to a match later tonight. We then go to the Undisputed Era getting ready backstage as we go to commercial.
Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish) vs Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch
All four men square off before exchanging strikes before Danny and Oney clear the ring and Oney hits a double blockbuster off of the steps as we go to commercial.
We come back to UE in control before Danny hits a cutter to Kyle and Kyle sends him through the ropes and out of the ring. Back in the ring Fish and O’Reilly double up on Burch and make frequent tags in and out, beating on Danny for several minutes while Oney is chomping at the bit to enter the match. Fish and O’Reilly cut the ring in half until Danny ducks a kick and leaps to Lorcan before Oney takes out both members of the UE. Lorcan then hits several uppercuts and a blockbuster into a suicide dive before hitting running back elbows in the corner and UE hit the High Low out of nowhere for the pin and the win.
Winner: Undisputed Era defeat Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch via pinfall.
-After the match UE get on the mics and say that it’s good to be winning again before saying that they intend to recapture the NXT Tag Team championships before they’re interrupted by the champions The Broserweights. Matt then says that they’re fine with defending tonight before they’re attacked from behind by the Grizzled Young Veterans. Zack says that he doesn’t care about the rematch UE are entitled to before saying that it’s out with the old and in with the Grizzled Young Veterans.
-We then get a graphic for Mauro’s interview later tonight with Johnny Gargano and a video package for Austin Theory and Isaiah Scott who are in action up next as we go to commercial.
Isaiah Scott vs Austin Theory
Scott locks in a standing side headlock before Austin drops him with a shoulder block and Scott hits a huricanrrana into a dropkick. Scott then drops Austin with a jumping back kick as we go to commercial.
We come back to Austin in control, dropkicking Scott for two before chopping him in the corner before Scott comes back with a running uppercut in the corner into a diving back elbow. Scott kicks Austin in the chest before hitting a snap mare into a jumping flat liner for two before Austin picks Scott’s leg and counters a huricanrrana into a buckle bomb. Theory hits an ushigaroshi for a near fall before rocking Scott with a back elbow and Scott hits a flying arm bar out of nowhere. Scott then snaps the arm of Austin before Austin rakes his eyes and knocks him from the top rope before hitting a TKO for the pin and the win.
Winner: Austin Theory defeats Isaiah Scott via pinfall.
-We then get a sit down interview with Mauro and Johnny Gargano where he explains why he cost Tommaso Ciampa his match for the NXT Championship at Takeover:Portland. Johnny become increasingly agitated at Mauro’s questioning before he gets in his face and calls Mauro a liar before Mauro gets upset and leaves. Johnny then grabs the camera and says that he’s going to show everyone why and how Tommaso is a puppet master next week as we go to commercial.
-The NXT North American Championship and the tag titles are on the line next week as we get a graphic for Lee versus Grimes and UE versus Broserweights.
Steel Cage Match
Velveteen Dream vs Roderick Strong
They immediately brawl as soon as Strong gets into the cage and Strong sends Dream into the cage, but he leaps and climbs the side of it before hitting a diving ax handle off of the top rope. Strong counters a DVD and sends Dream face first into the side of the cage before punching Dream in mount. Strong chops Dream in the corner before hitting a backbreaker and chopping Dream across he chest against the ropes. Dream then sends Strong into the side of the cage before Strong’s wife comes out and slides a kendo stick into the cage as we go to commercial.
We return to the action in the cage to Dream locking in a Boston crab before Strong reverses into one of his own. Dream reverses right before he taps before trapping Strong between the ropes and the side of cage. Dream superkicks Strong before they stop each other from hitting each other with the kendo stick until Strong hits a backbreaker. Strong climbs the side of the cage before Dream pulls his tights down and they exchange on the top rope until Strong rips Dream off of the top of the cage and hits an avalanche Olympic slam for a near fall. They stop each other from escaping through the door before Dream hits several DVDs and climbs to the top before hitting a diving elbow drop off of the top of the cage as the rest of UE come out.
Dream hops down and tries to keep UE from entering the cage before Adam gets in and Dream shoves Strong out of the cage so he can win the match.
Winner: Roderick Strong defeats Velveteen Dream when he escapes the cage.
-After the match Dream locks himself in the Cage with Adam and attacks him before hitting a DVD onto a chair and laying out Adam with the NXT Championship as we go off the air with Dream standing over top Adam with the belt.
