WWE NXT Results for 2/19/20 Roderick Strong vs Velveteen Dream

The Dream returns to NXT to take on the Messiah of the Backbreaker tonight at 8pm EST on USA Network!

Good evening Fight Fans and welcome to our coverage of tonight’s edition of WWE NXT headlined by a grudge match between Velveteen Dream and Roderick Strong!

-We open the show with a video recapping Takeover: Portland before The Undisputed Era comes out to the ring and talk about Adam retaining before they’re interrupted by The Velveteen Dream’s music and his voice.

NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match

Jordan Devlin (c) vs Lio Rush

Jordan backs Lio into the corner before they run the ropes and flip until Jordan dodges a kick and rolls out of the ring as we go to commercial.

We come back to Jordan in control, dropping Lio with a jumping knee before Lio comes back with forearms only for Jordan to hit an exploder suplex for two. Jordan hits a kitchen sink for two and a float over butterfly suplex for another two count before locking in a rear chin lock and driving his weight into the back of the former champion. Jordan then kicks Lio in the face before Lio counters the Devlinside and Jordan counters a rebound cutter with a backbreaker for two as we go to commercial.

We come back to the two running into each other with a running cross body before Lio sends Jordan out of the ring and hits a suicide dive. Lio tosses Jordan back into the ring and hits a diving cross body for two before Jordan hits a slingshot cutter and Lio rolls out of the ring. Jordan misses a moonsault off of the top before Lio hits one off of the apron and tosses Jordan back into the ring before gets a near fall off of a roll up. Jordan hits a Spanish fly before Lio locks in a submission and Jordan gets to the bottom rope before tapping or passing out. Jordan crotches Lio on the top turnbuckle and goes for a Spanish fly off of the top before Lio hits an avalanche poison rana into a rebound cutter for a near fall.

Lio then misses The Final Hour before Jordan headbutts him and hits Devlinside for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jordan Devlin retains his Cruiserweight Championship by defeating Lio Rush via pinfall with the Devlinside.

-We then get a backstage interview with Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzales before William Regal shows up and announces a steel cage match between Nox and Kai in two weeks before we see Tommaso Ciampa making his way into the arena as we go to commercial.

-We come back to Tommaso in the ring for his match against Austin Theory saying that a part of him feels like he should have seen Johnny’s betrayal coming and that there were signs. Ciampa says that he knows why Johnny did what he did and Johnny knows why before Ciampa drops Austin Theory when he interrupts him. Ciampa then says that he has to get rid of Johnny before he can get Goldie back before Austin follows Ciampa out of the ring and gets dropped with a boot and a running knee before sending him into the barricade at least ten times.

-We then go backstage to Chelsea Green having a photo shoot before Robert Stone shows up and says that his brand is relaunching tonight as we go to commercial.

Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde vs Grizzled Young Veterans

Zack and Wilde lock up and exchange wrist locks before Wilde dropkicks Zack and Zack drags Wilde to the corner where he tags in James. James and Joaquin run the ropes until Wilde hits a huricanrrana and a crucifix for two before James locks in a side headlock and Zack gets the blind tag. Zack drops Wilde and stomps him before GYV alternate tags and offense before they hit their signature slingshot diving knee backbreaker combo at ringside. Zack slams James on top of Wilde for two before he fights out of the corner and gets the tag to Raul who chops Zack and drops him with a clothesline before sending James out of the ring. Raul then hits an enzuigiri into a missile dropkick before Zack chops Raul in the throat and hits a back suplex before hitting A Ticket to Mayhem for the pin and the win.

Winner: Grizzled Young Veterans defeat Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde via pinfall when they hit Raul with A Ticket to Mayhem.

-The new NXT Tag Team champions, The Broserweights come out to the ring to celebrate their conquering the Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish to win gold at Takeover: Portland.

The Broserweights vs Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch

Pete and Danny get things started off by grappling before Pete takes Danny down and locks in an armbar before Danny counters into a back slide for two. Matt then comes in and stuffs several of Oney’s takedowns before the Bros clear the ring as we go to commercial.

We return to Oney and Danny in control of Matt, Oney switching from one hold to the next before Pete comes in and hits a snap German suplex before stomping on Danny’s hands and dropping him with a roundhouse kick. Pete locks in an armbar before Pete and Matt hit a double enzuigiri and a powerbomb into an enzuigiri for a near fall that Oney breaks up. Oney sends Pete out of the ring before Matt sends him out of the ring and Danny hits an enzuigiri into a German suplex for two before locking in a cross face. Pete counters a half hatch suplex before Danny and Matt exchange until Matt hits a powerbomb and gets dropped with a forearm. Pete then comes in and Oney gets the tag on the opposite side before hitting a running blockbuster and the Bros hit their finisher for the pin and the win.

Winner: The Broserweights defeat Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan via pinfall.

-After the match we go backstage to Undisputed Era hyping Roddy up before his match against Velveteen Dream in tonight’s main event as we go to commercial.

-The North American champion Keith Lee comes out to the ring and talks about successfully defending his title against Dominik Dijakovic at Takeover: Portland before he’s interrupted by Kona Reeves.

Keith Lee vs Kona Reeves

Keith immediately hits a jackhammer for the pin and the win.

Winner: Keith Lee defeats Kona Reeves via pinfall with a jackhammer.

-After the match Dominik Dijakovic comes out to the ring and Dom says that he’s not finished with Keith, but Keith doesn’t agree to a rematch before he leaves the ring and goes up the ramp as we go to commercial.

Kayden Carter vs Chelsea Green w/Robert Stone

Kayden gets an early near fall off a small package before kicking and chopping Chelsea and clotheslining her before hitting a sunset flip into a superkick for two. Chelsea traps Kayden in the corner and drops her on the back of her neck for two before Chelsea locks in a rear chin lock. Chelsea snaps Kayden’s neck into the bottom rope before Bianca Belair interrupts them and leaves before Chelsea gets several roll ups. Kayden then superkicks Chelsea out of the ring before Chelsea capitalizes off of the distraction by Robert and hits an unprettier for the pin and the win.

Winner: Chelsea Green defeats Kayden Carter via pinfall.

-We get the announcement of Tommaso Ciampa versus Austin Theory for next week as we as confirmation of the steel cage match between Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox.

Velveteen Dream vs Roderick Strong

Dream immediately rolls out of the ring and plays to the crowd before Roddy tries to take him down once he’s back in the ring. Dream knocks Roddy down before he rolls out of the ring and takes his time getting back into the ring before Dream takes Roddy down. Dream backs Roddy into the ropes for a clean break before Dream roll out of the ring and plays to the crowd before dropkicking Roddy once he chases him back into the ring. Dream chops Strong in the corner before Roddy grabs the ropes to avoid a suplex and pokes Dream in the eyes before hitting a backbreaker and Dream rolls out of the ring. Dream then runs over Roddy when he goes out after him and Roddy sends him into the apron before Dream sends him into the steps as we go to commercial.

We come back to Roddy in control of Dream before we counters a butterfly suplex and Roddy counters a rolling DVD. Dream drops Roddy with strikes before sending him shoulder first into the corner and following up with a series of backbreakers. Dream hits a DDT for two before hitting a diving ax handle and Roddy crotches Dream on the top turnbuckle. Roddy hits a backbreaker onto the top turnbuckle before Dream counters a suplex and Roddy hits a Tiger bomb into a Boston crab. Dream gets to the ropes for the break before sending Strong over the top rope and down onto the floor before he gets back in and they brawl on the mat.

They get back to their feet and Roddy boots Dream twice before they exchange and Dream hits a DVD and takes out the rest of UE at ringside. Dream then hits another DVD to Roddy back in the ring for the pin and the win.

Winner: Velveteen Dream defeats Roderick Strong via pinfall.

-After the match The Undisputed Era rush the ring and attack Dream before standing tall over him as we go off the air.
