Jon Jones Says Corey Anderson Ate Some Humble Pie At UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho

Corey Anderson competed in the main event of UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho, suffering a first round knockout loss to Jan Blachowicz

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones was in attendance at the event and he says Anderson ate some humble pie after the loss.

“Honestly, I think he was more worried about fighting me than fighting Jan Blachowicz,” Jones said to MMA Junkie. “It showed a valuable lesson of what happens when you look past opponents. I think Corey Anderson tasted humble pie tonight.”

It has been rumored that the winner of the UFC Rio Rancho main event could be next for Jones, so the loss was a big setback for Anderson.

Jones does admit that he thought that Anderson was going to be victorious over Blachowicz at UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho.

“I would have gone with Corey Anderson,” Jones said. “I thought he was the more athletic of the two. I think he was more versatile. I honestly thought Corey was going to win the fight. Jan had other plans.”

There is no word at this time as to when Jones next title defense will come or who it’ll be against, as the champion fought just one week earlier at UFC 247.
