Jared Cannonier To Get Surgery On Torn Pectoral Muscle, Looking To Return In The Fall
Jared Cannonier was supposed to face former UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 248, but Whittaker pulled out of the bout due to personal issues.
Darren Till was then reportedly set to step in on short notice to fight Cannonier, but that bout fell through due to undisclosed reasons.
Cannonier was then reportedly set to be the backup fighter for the UFC 248 main event between UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero. That won’t be happening now either because Cannonier suffered a torn pectoral muscle and will need surgery to correct the problem.
The fighter posted the following on Instagram:
If Cannonier’s estimate is correct, fans could expect to see the middleweight contender back in action sometime in the fall.
