New Champion Crowned At NXT House Show In Osaka, Japan
Shinsuke Nakamura is now a two-time NXT Champion.
At an NXT house show in Osaka, Japan in the very early hours of December 3, Nakamura defeated Samoa Joe in the main event to recapture the NXT Championship. That match will be shown on the December 7 episode of NXT.
Joe previously defeated Nakamura a couple of weeks ago at NXT Takeover: Toronto to become the first ever two-time NXT Champion after Nakamura first defeated Joe at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II to win his first NXT Title.
But this is not the end of the Nakamura vs. Joe rivalry. NXT is heading to Australia for a multi-show tour, including an event in Melbourne that will also be taped for the Network. It was previously announced that Nakamura would face Joe in a steel cage match for the NXT Championship on that show.
Other wrestlers who appeared at the show are NXT Women's Champion Asuka taking on Nia Jax, Tajiri and Akira Tozawa facing new NXT Tag Team Champions DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa), and Hideo Itami appearing in front of the live crowd. It is the first time the NXT brand has done a house show in Osaka, Japan.
It’s not the first time Joe has been involved in a title switch at an NXT house show. Earlier this year, Joe defeated Finn Balor at a house show in Massachusetts to win his first NXT Title.
