Eric Bischoff Calls Rey Mysterio One of the Most Charismatic People in the Wrestling Industry

To Eric Bischoff, Rey Mysterio is more than just a great in-ring performer.

Speaking with Conrad Thompson on his 83 Weeks podcast, the former WCW Executive Vice President believes that Rey Mysterio is one of those people, that when they walk into a room, they command your attention. He says that there is a “special vibe” about him that is indescribable.

Conrad shared that he would always remember Rey most for his early work in WCW, to which Bischoff agreed, saying that he set the standard in more ways than one. Often credited for his phenomenal ring work, psychology, and storytelling, Eric cites Mysterio as “one of the most charismatic people in the wrestling industry today.”

Despite possessing that rare, God-given “it factor,” Rey’s legacy will always be tied to his in-ring presentation.

“The innovative style that he brought to the industry probably set the stage for many of the things that we’re seeing today. He was so innovative, he was so cutting edge in so many ways, and I think Rey, in many ways more than anybody else, brought that Lucha Libre culture to a much higher profile in the USA because he was so successful,” said Bischoff.

In what should come as no surprise, both men agree that there is no doubt about the fact that Rey Mysterio is a Hall-of-Famer.

Now 45, Rey Mysterio continues to be showcased on WWE Raw, recently feuding over the United States Championship with Andrade.
