Report: Fabricio Werdum Faces Alexey Oleynik At UFC 250
A heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 250 as #12 Alexey Oleynik faces Fabricio Werdum.
Raphael Marinho of Combate first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Oleynik (58-13-1) has won just one of his last three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Maurice Greene at UFC 246. Oleynik has gone one for two when headlining UFC events, with that single main event win coming over Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night Moscow. Oleynik has picked up fifty eight wins as a professional MMA fighter and forty six of them came by way of submission.
Werdum (23-8-1) is competing for the first time since failing a USADA issued drug test in April of 2018. Werdum is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, defeating Cain Velasquez to win the gold at UFC 188 in June of 2015. Werdum hasn’t picked up a win in over two years, with that last victory coming over Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Night Sydney.
UFC 250 takes place on Saturday, May 9 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo headlining. Fightful is providing lie coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
