David Avanesyan vs. Josh Kelly Set, Joshua Greer vs. Jason Moloney Note | Fight-Size Boxing Update

Here’s your fight-size boxing update for February 9, 2020: 

– David Avanesyan will defend his EBU European Welterweight Title against Josh Kelly in a match at The O2 in London on March 28. That fight will be streamed on DAZN in the U.S. and on Sky Sports in the U.K.

– Mike Coppinger reported that bantamweight contenders Joshua Greer Jr. and Jason Moloney will fight in the co-main event of the April 25 Top Rank card from Las Vegas that will be headlined by Naoya Inoue vs. John Riel Casimero in a WBA/WBO/IBF bantamweight title unification. Fightful was able to independently confirm that fight is set and an announcement is expected to be made by Top Rank Boxing within the next week.

– Showtime officially announced that former bantamweight titlist Luis Nery will face Aaron Alameda in a super bantamweight bout taking place on March 28. Otto Wallin vs. Lucas Browne and Joseph George vs. Marcos Escudero were confirmed to be on the TV undercard.

– On February 8, Wilfredo Mendez defeated Gabriel Mendoza by TKO in the ninth round to retain the WBO Minimumweight World title in Panama.

– After unsuccessfully challenging for the WBO Light Heavyweight title against Sergey Kovalev last August, Anthony Yarde return to action in Spain on February 8, beating Diego Jair Ramirez by second-round TKO. 

– Steve Gago will challenge for the WBC Australasia title against current WBC Asia Pacific Champion Gesiler AP on March 6 in Metro City, Perth, Australia.

– Below is a post-fight press conference with Kell Brook and Kid Galahad after they each picked up a victory on the February 8 Matchroom Boxing card from Sheffield.

– IBF Female Junior Welterweight champion Mary McGee successfully defended her title with an eighth-round TKO win over Deanha Hobbs on February 8.

– Unbeaten lightweight prospect Raymond Muratalla has signed a promotional deal with Top Rank Boxing.

– There will be a press conference on February 11 to announce Lewis Ritson’s next fight date and opponent.
