Booker T On Matt Riddle/Brock Lesnar Situation: “This Ain’t The UFC”

Booker T has some words for Matt Riddle in the wake of his reported verbal confrontation with Brock Lesnar.

It was reported Lesnar and Riddle got into a verbal confrontation at Royal Rumble, with Lesnar reportedly telling Riddle to stop tagging him on social media and that the two would never work together.

On his podcast, “The Hall of Fame with Booker T & Brad Gilmore,” Booker said he wants Riddle to understand what he says can carry consequences and that this isn’t the UFC, where he and Lesnar fought as MMA fighters for years. Booker spoke about the “feud” that he and Corey Graves previously had, saying that it was a work, but that all parties were aware of what was going on.

“Watch what you say first and foremost, Matt, because guys out there can really make you look like something that you really aren’t and that’s what I’m always talking about with social media and whatnot, saying stuff. It looked like he was working and they made it look like it was a shoot. You got to know somebody first in order to be able to do something like that. This is not the UFC where you see these guys talking so much smack to each other back and forth and whatnot. Now on the other hand, when the Corey Graves thing started, when all of those reports started coming out, I called Corey Graves and said, ‘Don’t say nothing. Just let it ride. Let’s see if you get a few clicks out of this. Let’s see if we get a few followers and whatnot (laughs).’ And it became something, but we both knew what was up. Everybody else thought Corey and I had a lot of heat already, so we were like, ‘So if they think we have heat, let’s do something with it,'” Booker said.

Booker said Riddle could take this as a lesson in professional wrestling and not start or work angles if he doesn’t know the person.

“Like I said, this is not the UFC where someone, if they don’t want to work with you, don’t like you, it can become a problem for you. This is professional wrestling. This is not the UFC where it’s cool to creat controversy, especially since it’s real and it’s organic to where the fans are buying in to it. But with professional wrestling, it’s not like that. You don’t come in and go into business for yourself in professional wrestling. That’s why I feel like this deal right here, he was in character for one moment and then the media took the character and made it a shoot because of what happened on Sunday. It is a lesson to be learned… Don’t work an angle unless you know the guy. It’s bad for business. That’s just the way I feel about it,” Booker said.
