Cody On AEW Dynamite Airing From Chris Jericho’s Cruise: AEW Is All About Great Ideas

This Wednesday, Jan. 22, AEW Dynamite will air from Chris Jericho‘s Rock N Wrestling Rager at Sea Part Deux. The cruise set sail from Miami on Jan. 20 and will head to the Bahamas, arriving on Jan. 24. The first cruise, which sailed in 2018, had matches air on Fite TV. But with AEW running a weekly schedule, the cruise will host a live episode of Dynamite.

Speaking to Busted Open Radio, Cody Rhodes discussed the idea of holding AEW Dynamite on the cruise ship and his concerns.

“It reminds me of [WCW] Road Wild in that the imagery will look different. There’s a ring, on a cruise deck, with fans, first come, first serve style. It’s gonna look like nothing ever in wrestling,” he said. “It’s a first. A live broadcast from the cruise ship. Really looking forward to it. The less optimistic side is, it’s very daunting, the task of putting this boat in the port in Miami and getting these matches and making sure we get them and edit them and properly have everything lined up. But it’s a challenge we accept when you do something a little outside the box. This is a great idea Chris had and if AEW is anything, it’s all about great ideas, no matter who they come from. Last year on the cruise, I thought the wheels were gonna fall off. I was concerned on how it would work. And one of the most vivid memories was sharing the ring with Kenny [Omega], Marty [Scurll], Young Bucks, and Jericho. The crowd singing ‘Judas,’ the night setting in as the match was going on. Just a really great memory on the ocean.”

In a previous interview, it was revealed Nick Jackson put together the matches fans will see on the cruise. You can find those comments by clicking here.

AEW Dynamite will be headlined by Jon Moxley vs. Pac in an AEW World Title number one contender’s bout.
