McGregor hadn’t competed since his 2018 loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, and had been without a win since his 2016 performance against Eddie Alvarez. In his way was the legendary multi-record holder Donald Cerrone. While the two had issues in years past, it was a gentleman’s build to their long awaited bout.

After all that wait, it ended in about 40 seconds. McGregor landed shoulder butts in the clinch, a head kick, and big punches that set up ground and pound. Less than a minute into the first round, the referee called for the stoppage, deeming that Conor McGregor was in fact “back.”

The world is now McGregor’s oyster it would seem. Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman were both referenced and in attendance. McGregor has long stated that he would also like a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov in Russia. He declared that he had “a list,” and anyone could get it — even Paul Felder at the announce desk.
