WWE Smackdown on FOX Results for 1/17/20 Reigns vs Roode in a Tables Match
The Big Dog takes on The Glorious One in a tables match tonight at 8pm EST on FOX!
Hey Fight Fans, good evening and welcome to our coverage of tonight’s edition of WWE Smackdown on FOX! We hope you enjoy the show and be sure to check out our post-show podcast afterwards!
-Kane comes out to the ring to start the show and talks about the Royal Rumble before he’s interrupted by Bray Wyatt on the big screen. Bray calls Kane a bully and says that winning the Rumble isn’t a wise idea before saying that neither he nor The Fiend will ever forget Kane. The lights go out and The Fiend comes up out of the ring and Kane asks him what took so long before Daniel Bryan attacks The Fiend from behind. The Fiend then escapes through the hole before Daniel rips out some of his hair before cheering with the WWE Universe along with Kane as we go to commercial.
-We come back to Daniel giving an impassioned promo backstage about his match against The Fiend at the Royal Rumble where he makes their title match a strap match so The Fiend won’t be able to get away from him.
Big-E w/Kofi Kingston vs John Morrison w/The Miz
E knocks John out of the air when he runs at him and uses his superior strength before John rocks him with a series of kicks and punches him in mount. John then drags E out of the ring and hits a draping neckbreaker off of the apron and down onto the floor as we go to commercial.
John is in control as we return to the ring before E picks John up and John counters the Big Ending before E hits overhead suplexes. John pokes E in the eye and E hits a back drop into a running, jumping splash and John hits a rolling neckbreaker for two. Kofi keeps The Miz at bay before sending Miz into the steps and John takes out Kofi at ringside before Miz shoves him out of the way of a suicide dive by E. John then hits an enzuigiri into Starship Pain for the pin and the win.
Winner: John Morrison defeats Big-E via pinfall with Starship Pain.
-it’s announced that the winner of the tables match will get to pick the stipulation for the match between Corbin and Reigns at Survivor Series before we get a video recapping last week’s segment between the two sides. We then go to The Usos and Roman backstage ahead of their match up next as we go to commercial.
The Usos vs The Revival
Scott backs Jey into the corner for a clean break before dropping him with a shoulder block and Jey drops Scott with an uppercut. Jimmy comes in and hits a running splash in the corner for two before Dash gets the blind tag and Scott hits a rebound suplex into a slingshot splash by Dash for two. Scott keeps Jimmy grounded for several minutes before he gets to his feet and drops Scott with a spin kick before getting the tag to Jey. Jey sends Scott out of the ring and hits Dash with a Samoan drop before hitting a diving cross body for two before Dash counters a superkick. Dash then gets two off of an inside cradle before Jimmy comes in and The Usos hit stereo superkicks before Jey hits a suicide dive and Jimmy hits a diving splash for the pin and the win.
Winner: The Usos defeat The Revival via pinfall when Jimmy pins Dash with a diving splash.
-We go backstage to The Revival where they’re interviewed where they say that they’re going to change the company before we see Lacey Evans brawling with Bayley and Sasha Banks. We get a recap of the latest in the budding relationship between Otis and Mandy Rose before we go to Mandy and Sonya talking. We then go to Bayley and Sasha in the trainers room before Bayley is told she has a match against Lacey up next as we go to commercial.
Lacey Evans vs Bayley
Lacey chases Bayley around ringside before she draws Lacey back into the ring and stomps her when she gets back in. Lacey drops Bayley and hits a huricanrrana before they end up at ringside once more and Lacey tosses Bayley back into the ring before getting a few quick one counts. Bayley hits a drop toe hold into the ropes and locks in a straight armbar before dropping Lacey with a back elbow for two. Bayley sends Lacey out onto the apron before Lacey comes back with right hands and kick to the midsection before following up with clotheslines. Lacey tosses Bayley across the ring and sends her into the bottom turnbuckle before she goes for a moonsault, but Bayley gets her feet up.
Lacey then rolls out of the ring and Bayley hits her with a running knee before playing to the crowd as we go to commercial.
Bayley hits a neckbreaker in the ropes for two before hitting a back suplex for another two count and a running back elbow in the corner. Bayley hits a diving back elbow for two and drops her with a knee before missing a diving cross body. Lacey then catches Bayley coming in and drops her with The Woman’s Right for the pin and the win.
Winner: Lacey Evans defeats Bayley via pinfall with the Woman’s Right.
-We go backstage to an interview with Chad Gable where he talks about taking on Sheamus before he’s interrupted by him. Sheamus mocks Chad who takes him down before they’re separated by security and Chad leaves as Sheamus throws things as we go to commercial.
-We get an interview with Braun Strowman who’s still set on Shinsuke Nakamura and his Intercontinental Championship before we go to Elias in the ring for a song before he’s interrupted by Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn and Cesaro. Sami talks about how Shinsuke and the Royal Rumble before Elias says that he has another song and starts to play it before Cesaro gets into the ring and attacks Elias. Shinsuke comes in before Sami down and they all gang up on Elias before Braun Strowman comes out to the ring and runs over Shinsuke and Cesaro before clearing the ring.
-We then get an extended video package for the career of the father of The Rock, WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson as we go to commercial.
Sonya Deville w/Mandy Rose vs Alexa Bliss w/Nikki Cross
Heavy Machinery come out onto the ramp as Sonya drops Alexa with kicks and hits a shining wizard for two before locking in a rear chin lock. Alexa comes back with a shotgun dropkick and stomps in the corner before Mandy distracts her and Nikki shoves her off of the top, but Otis is there to catch her. Alexa then rolls Sonya up for the pin and the win.
Winner: Alexa Bliss defeats Sonya Deville via pinfall.
-We go backstage to Corbin and company in the locker room as Robert gets ready for his tables match against Roman Reigns in tonight’s main event as we go to commercial.
-It’s announced that Lacey Evans will challenge Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at the Royal Rumble.
Tables Match
Roman Reigns vs Robert Roode
Roode attacks Roman when he’s coming down to the ring before tossing him into the ring and they exchange until Roman drops Roode with a clothesline. Roman smashes Roode’s face into the steps before Roode whips him into them and gets a table out from underneath the ring. Roode then slides a table into the ring and Roman drops him from behind before going through the time keeper’s area as we go to commercial.
We come back to Roode and Reigns trying to put each other through a table from the top turnbuckle before Roman sends Roode into the post and out of the ring. Roman sets a table up in the corner before dropping him with a superman punch at ringside and tossing Roode back into the ring. Corbin distracts Roman before Dolph superkicks him and they put him on the announce table before he’s saved by The Usos. The Usos then put Dolph through the announce table before Roman spears Roode through the table for the pin and the win.
Winner: Roman Reigns defeats Robert Roode by putting him through a table.
-After the match Roman announces that their match at the Royal Rumble will be a Falls Count Anywhere match.
