Jorge Masvidal Says Bout Versus Conor McGregor Would Be One Of The Biggest In UFC History

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor collides with Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC 246.

Jorge Masvidal is interested in the result of the bout, because he believes a future fight against McGregor would be one of the biggest in UFC history.

“I won’t say it’s not the right move,” Masvidal said to MMA Junkie. “Usman is a fight. Conor is obviously flirting with the idea of fighting me. If me and Conor go in the octagon, what happens? It’s one of the biggest fights in history, just by math (with) what Conor’s been doing and the last couple fights I’ve had. The engagements and pay-per-views broke records with ESPN. Obviously it’s a formula for success.”

McGregor has also expressed interested in facing Masvidal, which is an idea that UFC President Dana White previously spoke out against

Masvidal values a bout against McGregor so much that he would rather face the former two division champ instead of UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.

“Someone will always have the belt at 170 pounds,” Masvidal said. “It doesn’t really matter if it’s Kamaru or not. Conor is a bigger fight. If Conor doesn’t do his job or Conor doesn’t want to fight after his fight (with Cerrone), we’re going to take Usman’s head off.”

UFC 246 takes place on Saturday, January 18 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
