David Benoit Welcomed At WWE Shows, Says WWE Thought Chris Jericho Bought Him AEW Hoodie To Wear

In March 2019, Natalya posted a photograph of herself along with Chris Benoit’s son David, who was wearing an AEW hoodie, at a WWE event. Later in the year, Benoit stated he was banned from WWE events with some believing the AEW hoodie was the reason why.

In September, Benoit was once again photographed backstage at a live event alongside Natalya and Tyson Kidd. No AEW hoodie was present.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Benoit joked, “They all thought Chris [Jericho] bought [the hoodie] for me.”

As far as being banned from WWE, Benoit cleared things up by saying, “I had to make a few phone calls. I was trying to talk to someone, but they never got back to me for a good four to five months. Everything is fine there. I talked to their lawyer and then I talked to [Senior Director of Talent Relations] Mark Carano. I’m welcome everywhere now. We’re good. Problem solved.”

Benoit specified that he was banned from WWE events because he went to an AEW show. He was in the crowd for AEW Double or Nothing in May.

Elsewhere in the interview, Benoit discussed Jericho getting his 2014 in-ring debut canceled due to a lack of experience. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
