The New Day Were Told Their Merchandise Would Never Be Sold At The Venue By ‘A Man In Merch’
The New Day are three of the most popular WWE superstars in the last five years, with their merchandise routinely being at the top on the seller list. But it wasn’t easy for Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods to climb the merchandising ranks.
Speaking on New Day: Feel The Power, the trio discussed putting their merchandise together and getting it sold at the venue.
“We always wanted a say in merch and our logo. We wanted control, as much as we could get, of everything. With shirts, we wanted to make something that was more than a wrestling shirt. Essentially, having three dudes on a unicorn on a rainbow road is not a wrestling shirt. A wrestling shirt is a black shirt with generic font, generic catchphrase. Black shirt, white writing. This is what I know to be as a wrestling shirt. We wanted to go off the beaten path,” said Woods.
Big E then revealed they were told that their merchandise would never be sold at the venue, which obviously didn’t end up holding true.
“We only had our shirts available online, you couldn’t buy a New Day shirt in the arena. We go to a man in merch and we say, ‘When do you think we might be able to get one of our shirts in the venue?’ This man looked at us and he said, ‘NEVER! Hahahahaha.’ He said never and he laughed at us. He said we would never have a New Day shirt in a venue to purchase. It wasn’t a joke. He meant it,” recalled Big E.
New Day have a plethora of items for sale online and at the arena, including shirts, hats, hoodies, leggings, and more.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Big E revealed that he misses being a heel because he enjoyed making fun of the crowd. You can view his full comments by clicking here.
